A double lock and steel roll shutter guards the cameras and audio equipment at Peacock Visual Arts in Aberdeen.
Digital Coordinator, Iain Gildea, gave me a tour of PVA digital media facilities during a recent visit, and we recorded this podcast to let filmmakers know what’s on offer.
PVA is located down a narrow lane at the east end of Union Street. There’s a shop, gallery space, printmaking workshop and a bunch of other facilities, and on the first floor you’ll find Iain’s workshop. He’s got a heavy duty CV when it comes to digital media, but there’s something of an inventor (mad prof-type) about him – aye, in a good way! In fact, he’s got an idea for a tinkerer’s workshop at some point in the future.
Iain’s also the man you’ll speak to when you want to hire any cameras, audio kit and tripods, or to rent time in the edit suite. Take a look at the PVA website and you’ll get an idea of the rental costs: http://www.peacockvisualarts.com/digital-home/.
If you’ve never hired from PVA before, it’s the usual process, they need ID, proof of address, deposit, an indication that you know how to safely use camera equipment etc. Call PVA on 01224 639 539.
