“Documentary is telling stories with reality,” says Noe Mendelle, but that’s as far as she’ll go in defining what she believes can be an addictive, time consuming, rewarding and frustrating endeavour.
Noe is the director of the Scottish Documentary Institute, in Edinburgh, and this is the second part of her interview. Hear the first part here, in which she talks about the work of the SDI.
The SDI is an excellent resource for anyone interested in filmmaking. The website, http://www.scottishdocinstitute.com, has trailers for docs they have helped people make and masterclass videos. Check out the Resource page, too.
Also, Amy Hardie, a documentary filmmaker from Kemnay – that’s about 15 miles north west of Aberdeen – is co-founder of SDI, along with Noe. I’ll invite her to give an interview at some point in the future.
