Today you can hear Part 2 of the IADF visit to Film City Glasgow.
If you heard Part 1 you’ll know the building used to be Govan Town Hall, but it was also a former theatre. The ground floor seating has all been removed, but the stage, balcony and ceiling all all reminders of how this wonderful space was once used.
At the end of Part 1, my guide Sarah Potter left me in the darkness while she went across the stage to search for the lighting panel.
In Part 2, Sarah talks more about how production companies use the space, and what it has been used for in the past.
She also runs through the story of how it was created: Gillian Berrie, co-founder of Sigma Films (the production company behind many well-known films, including Red Road, Hallam Foe and Citadel), brought the idea back from a visit to Scandinavia.
It’s a great idea – bring together a whole bunch of media and creative companies to work in the same building and occupy a building like Govan Town Hall. It’s regeneration.
So, check out the podcast. There are another three to come after this as Sarah continues the tour of FCG. Last one on Friday this week.
