“I take it on the chopper with me and it sits in my survival suit. It goes pretty much everywhere with me,” says filmmaker and offshore worker Morgan Black.
He’s referring to the hugely popular Guerilla Film Makers Pocketbook (and the Handbook before that), which he’s used to help in his production of last autumn’s Dying Seconds zombie movie (still in production) and a bunch of other smaller projects.
“I found it in 2004 or 2005 when I was in Ottokars (bookshop in Aberdeen) looking through the film section. There was this big green book – and it was expensive. It was the original Guerilla Film Maker’s Handbook. I bought it -it had everything in it. Right there.”
Morgan, from Kemnay, in Aberdeenshire, recommends the Handbook and the Pocketbook to filmmakers because of the concise way they’re written and put together. They answers all the questions you might come across and give you tips to make things run smoothly, he says.
