IADF VD 003: Donsdee Productions and ‘Kick’ – A Drama about Drug Abuse
Kim Templeton’s interview with the Donsdee Productions team was interrupted by the appearance of a dodgy ‘friend-of-a-drug-addict’ helping with the production. See that short piece of improvised theatre in IADF VD today.

Kick is the name of the first feature from Aberdeen-based Donsdee Productions.
Director Nicci Thompson arranged for the actors to interact with Kim during their interview at June’s Aberdeen Actors and Directors networking event.
Watch the video (below) and see for yourself whether it worked. There’s no denying that it’s a creative approach by the Donsdee team to up-the-ante in the interview.
Donsdee Productions
Donsdee Productions consists of director Nicci Thompson, screenwriter David Wood and cinematographer Mike Silva. The concept of the story came from Mike and it was developed mostly by David.
Nicci is keen to explain their approach to developing the story. It’s all about getting it as realistic as possible, he says, adding that’s why they’ve spent time interviewing real life addicts.
The story’s about how drug abuse ruins otherwise productive lives and they want to show the realities of life as a drug addict. The team selected their cast some weeks ago, and production has already started.
The plan is for the film to be ready for screening by the end of the year and they’ve produced the Kick Video Trailer (but I think it’s more of a teaser, myself) and you can see that below.
