His latest short, the Jacket, features a young girl being bullied at school who is given a garment that offers the wearer an invisible cloak of protection.
David Izatt is currently in post-production with the film that is based on a short story by Scottish author Johnny Mains.
The film was mostly shot around Dunfermline, features local acting talent, and is due to be premiered to cast and crew late in September or early in October.
See a teaser for the short in the video below.
David is a Dunfermline man. Back in the 2000s he made two trips to Australia where he developed his interest in filmmaking and acting, and made a bunch of short films over a period of three years.
He runs Dunfermline-based video production company, Zoghogg, making corporate films and music videos, but also runs ZTV or Zoghogg TV, which is a service to the community and a profile-raising exercise.
David’s like most filmmakers – he does what he has to in order to enable him to make his films, so as a trained engineer, he often takes temporary contracts to allow him to support his family…and also fund his creative projects.
While he was in Australia, David decided to take acting lessons and spent two years in classes run by a well-known Australian actor, Bruce Alexander. [Quote from website follows]
As an actor, Bruce Alexander has had the good fortune over a 30-year career to work on the international film and television stage with such luminaries as Geoffrey Rush, Max Von Sydow, Carol Drinkwater, Hugo Weaving, William Petersen, Sigrid Thornton, David Wenham and Hugh Jackman.
David also spent time learning from director and acting teacher Richard Sarrell. [Quote from website follows]
Richard’s directing work entails directing over 175 hours of Television Drama over a period of seventeen years, including the television series: MDA, All Saints, Home and Away, Neighbours, Something in the Air, Murder Call, Water Rats, Shortland Street (TVNZ), Plain Clothes (TVNZ), Australia’s Most Wanted, A Country Practice…
I know…Prisoner Cell Block H ain’t mentioned once!
While he was in Australia David made a 50 minuter called the Devil’s Whispers, released in 2009, but he later re-edited it into a five-part web series.
From his IMDB description of Devil’s Whisper: “Maric Drogovski has lived with guilt for over a year. But when the time comes to face up to what he has done, he not only makes things worse, he throws himself into another realm without any hope of redemption.”
